We know the kids who win the National Spelling Bee are crazy smart, but have you?ever?thought “I could do that!” Well, here’s your chance to prove (or disprove) it.
It’s the first time the bee has ended in a tie in more than 50 years.
Vox has put together an interactive spelling bee tool so that we can all get an idea of whether or not we could have won past contests. They’ve pulled together 20 words that have previously won the competition. You can use the same tools that spellers do — ask for language of origin, pronunciation, and use in a sentence.
I think of myself as a pretty good speller. When I took the test, I started off strong, but well…it was hard! Hats off to brainy kids.
