In Joni Ernst’s victory speech in Iowa, she repeatedly laughed but in that awkward “I’m just a little bit crazy” sort of way. ?You know the kind. It’s weird and uncomfortable when you’re face-to-face with someone who begins laughing at absolutely nothing.
It happened to me recently in my home. Three people were visiting, then suddenly, they all started laughing in a seemingly nervous manner. “I’m going to take a step back because there are three people laughing inappropriately in my living room,” I said. Then they really burst out laughing. It’s one of those moments when you wonder if one of your guests will pull out a hatchet and go all Lizzy Borden in your home.
It was a strange night, but not quite as strange as last night.
