The Golden Raspberry Awards, popularly known as “The Razzies” have introduced their nominees for the annual worst of the worst in movies.

The latest Transformers movie comes out on top leading the pack in Razzies nominations. The film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, stars Mark Wahlberg and was directed by Michael Bay.?The film is up for worst picture, worst director, worst screenplay and many more.
The Legend of Hercules and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?also received nominations. Of course, the Razzies are something no one wants to be a part of, but many big name stars have won these infamous awards. Huge actors/actresses like Keanu Reeves, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Aniston have been winners (victims). It seems almost inevitable that anyone with a long career will have a Razzie nomination at some point in their life, maybe aside from Meryl Streep.
Do you agree with these choices for the worst of 2014? It seems that 2014 was filled with so many great movies, from Selma to Boyhood.?This year’s Oscars will be hotly contested. With all of the greatness in films this past year, the bad ones are easily overlooked. Off the top of my head though, some?of the most?awful films to me were:
1. Transcendence?

A dying, brilliant man transforms himself into a computerized form for the afterlife but even Johnny Depp couldn’t save this disaster.
2.?Divergent

A factioned dystopian version of Chicago, this movie has its interesting parts, but is just too long.
3.?The Amazing Spider Man 2

There’s just too many plots going on in this one. And I am still not a fan of Andrew Garfield as Spider Man. Sorry.
4. The Expendables 3

A group of mercenaries versus an arms dealer sounds interesting, but I just hated the dialogue and the cast.
5. Transformers: Age of Extinction

Everyone knows about the Transformers series by now, but this is by far the worst installment. It is too long and became so boring I wanted to cry.
6. Blended

Two parents go on a trip with their families, “blending” lives, hence the namesake. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler have made movies together before, but this one is just a joke. It misrepresents too many groups and is not funny for what is supposed to be a comedy.

Movie critics seemingly love to harshly analyze movies, and the Razzies show that Hollywood has no problem saying when bad is just bad. But do we need to?acknowledge the bad at all? I still have not quite figured out whether the Razzies are just a nice fun joke and ?all of Hollywood is in on it or if it is something that could’ve been conceived in the Mean Girls movie. I personally would hate to be nominated for these awards, but others do not seem to take it seriously. Even popular actresses like Halle Berry have showed up in person to accept their Raspberry award!
Is this show a fun look at the not-so-good in Hollywood, or is it another example of the negative cynical nature of the United States? Either way, the Oscars are about to be announced?tomorrow. We will celebrate the best of the best from this past year, and there was a LOT of greatness worth celebrating.
