OMG I can sooooooooo relate to this model’s frustration. It’s a little easier when you’re a size 2 to find clothes that are consistently going to fit you, but even thin women struggle with sizing. When you’re a chubby chick, though? Ugh.
The problem is that thin women’s body structure is fairly consistent. When you start to add on…er….curves, things get more complicated. Curviness isn’t as easy to measure. Because of this, we “curvy” women tend to be wary of shopping online or from catalogs. And one size fits all? hahahahaha
One thing I’ve found to be effective is to stick to a couple of different brands. I KNOW what size I wear at Lane Bryant, for instance. That makes it easier for me to make online shopping decisions if I’m shopping from their site.
And don’t even get me started on vanity sizing. I went to a Torrid recently. I loved their clothes so much that I told my daughter:
“Their clothes are so beautiful I felt short of breath!”
The problem was that the clothes were a size 1, 2, and 3. Ha. I had to ask the shopkeeper for help. Hilarious.
Model Marie Southard Ospina went to the trouble to try on various jeans for us. Here are her results.
