Brock Allen Turner, 19, is charged with raping an unconscious person, raping an intoxicated person, sexual penetration with a foreign object of an unconscious person, and assault with the intent of rape.

Brock Allen Turner was a Stanford Student until January 27 after he was barred from going on campus.

According to The?Los Angeles Times:

“Early on the morning of January 18, prosecutors say, two men riding bikes on campus spotted a man later identified as Turner on top of an unconscious woman. Turner?ran away, but the pair tackled him. A third person called the police.?Turner was arrested, booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and released after posting $150,000 bail. Prosecutors said. He’s scheduled?to be arraigned Feb. 2.”

This is coming on the heels of the influx of attention college rape and sexual assaults have garnered in the national media.

According to the Huffington Post:

???? “Not even a third of college students found guilty of sexual assault are kicked out of school.”

While this is discouraging news, there has been a massive effort to make college campuses safer. Both Democrats and Republicans came together?in 2014 to introduce bills to resolve the issues surrounding college sexual assaults.

Pressure on universities and colleges have been constant thanks to college activists. There have been many different tactics?used by activists to make a difference. One student carried around the mattress she was raped on to draw attention to campus rape.

More commonly, rape victims have been holding up posters talking about the experience of being sexually assaulted or raped and posting them to social media. This tactic has taken off like wildfire and put colleges and universities on blast, forcing educational institutions to take a closer look at how they handle the issue.

It is sickening that it takes so much effort to draw attention to what should be a universally taboo act.
