Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of BOND aka The Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, recently spoke to Steve Malzberg about the recent report released by the U.S. Department of Justice on the Ferguson Police department.
On July 24th 2011, Peterson’s BOND organization hosted members of the South Central Los Angeles Tea Party in a rally against the NAACP. He’s been an outspoken critic of the various movements against police brutality and discrimination. In the interview Rev. Peterson says:
“In all honesty, yes, you could find wrongdoing anywhere, but I personally don’t believe the full report of the Justice Department because these people have lied to us so much that it is impossible for me to believe the full outcome of what they’re reporting,”
It would seem that Rev. Peterson’s mistrust for law enforcement agencies is very selective; after the Ferguson grand jury decision was announced, Rev. Peterson had this to say:
“The decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson proves that our justice system works. The outcome shows that justice prevailed despite a concerted effort by rabble rousers, corrupt civil-rights ‘leaders,’ Attorney General Eric Holder, and even President Barack Obama, who attempted to tip the scales of justice and convict the officer without due process.”
Peterson also had some ground breaking commentary on the African American Community. He said:
“I’ve said for a long time that most black Americans are suffering not because of racism, but they lack moral character. They are very angry and that anger they take out on one another since they can’t get to the white man.
Any black person in the black community who decides that they want to be a man or woman of truth, they want to judge people based on character and not color ? [is] considered a bitter enemy of those who hate good ? Too many black people hate good ? I used to be into blackness, but when God changed my heart and took away my anger, I am now into the character of the person and not the color.”
