They found the driver, later identified as Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck, 25,?deceased, most probably from injuries received when the accident happened countless hours before. The mysterious voice the rescuers had heard wasn’t the driver. Then they noticed a child in car seat in the back seat.?The voice?wasn’t?the baby crying for help either.?The baby was only 18 months old and barely awake.

Officers Tyler Beddoes, Jared Warner and Bryan Dewitt were the first on the scene in the small town of Spanish Fork. The mysterious voice was also heard by two firemen, Paul Tomadakis and Lee Mecham and additional people standing on a bridge.

Spanish Fork police spokesperson Lt. Matt Johnson stated,

?There were some individuals on top of the bridge, but all three stated [the voice] came from the vehicle. It prompted us to lift the car between the three officers and firemen. They physically lifted the car from the side, and they located the infant in the car seat at that time.?

Johnson added,

?Due to the trauma she sustained, we suspect she was deceased upon impact. I don’t believe she survived the impact of the car crash. There was massive trauma.?

The rescuers had difficulty staying in the water for long periods because the?water temperature was frigid. Once the vehicle was on it’s side, rescuers discovered the child and managed to get her out of the car seat and carried her to safety and warmth on the bank of the river.

The vehicle was originally spotted around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 in the Spanish Fork River, about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. A 911 call placed by a fisherman alerted authorities to the crash. Not visible from the roadway, the accident may not have been discovered for quite some time were it not for that fisherman.

The baby, Lily, is reported to be in?stable condition?and is in the care of her grandparents. Whatever caused the series of events that led to her rescue will probably remain a mystery, but it has touched the lives of many people along the way. Is it possible that disembodied voice heard by all those people was the spirit of Lynn Groesbeck? The power of motherly love is strong, but is it strong enough to reach from beyond?
