It seems like everyone things they should be fashion school teachers, but this should be the number one tip at every fashion school: we can’t please everyone! OK….we can’t really please anyone but ourselves — or maybe we just shouldn’t try. When it comes to dressing, for women in America (and much of the world), it’s “damned if we do and damned if we don’t.” So many cliches in the first paragraph, eh?
The truth is, this will never be taught at a fashion school. Everyone seems to have an opinion about how women are dressed. To be fair, we women police ourselves and each other far more than men try to police us. This awesome comic from Ms. Demeanor on Tumblr beautifully illustrates just how futile it is to try to please American society.
In other words, ladies, please yourselves. Make your own fashion school rules. It’s only your opinion who matters anyhow.
