What’s Wrong With America’s Youth?

A group of Comstock Park 18-year-old lacrosse players have been charged with breaking and entering into their coach’s home in December. The teens are headed to court next month and are expected to enter a plea deal.

The seven teens are all seniors from Comstock Park High School.

The actual incident occurred on December 18 and resulted in the boys engaging in hijinks while in the home. However, no charges of theft, drinking or drug use are connected to the incident.

The home belongs to Jon Weir, who is listed as a teacher and lacrosse coach.

Unfortunately for us, no statement has been made regarding the incident by Weir. However, he is expected to make a statement next month as the case goes to trial.

The boys’ current charges carry a maximum of 90 days in jail, but if the teens have no previous criminal record it will be highly unlikely that they will see any jail time.

The boys remain free on a $100 bond.

Furthermore, since the incident occurred off school campus, most Comstock Park Public Schools officials have declined to comment.

However, according to superintendent Ethan Ebenstein and Fox online:

“The students admitted to the misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine, shortly after the incident on Dec. 8, 2014.”

While many details of the case are still unknown and will remain that way until trial, it makes one wonder why the teens chose to break and enter into the coach’s home. I know that we cannot make any assumptions, but this a case that makes me wonder, “Why?” What reasonable motive would drive someone to break into a teacher/coach’s home?

It’s also a case of pure stupidity for these kids, but you know what they say… Negative attention is better than no attention for some people, and that’s the case with America’s youth.
