Do Dogs Remember Their Owners After Years Away? Watch This Video And Decide

Dogs, we know, are called “Man’s Best Friend,” but do they have the kind of memories that would allow them to recognize a previous owner after being separated from that owner for three years?

That question brings us to Rico the German shepherd, who had been taken from Andrea Arce and her two daughters in 2012 as part of a messy breakup Ms. Arce endured. She was convinced she would never see her beloved Rico again.

But good fortune smiled on the Arce family when a shelter in Virginia called to let Andrea know they had located Rico and were wondering if she might want to be reunited with her pooch. She said yes, and even arranged for Rico to be flown to California for what may well be one of the most beautiful and touching reunions you will ever witness.

When you watch the video, it becomes immediately apparent that Rico does indeed remember the family that loved and cared for him three years prior. He?jumps into the arms of his old family, licking their faces and wrapping his arms around Ms. Arce, who remarked:

“It’s the connection that we had for the first three years of his life. We never forgot him and he never forgot us.”

Do dogs have memories? You better believe they do.
