The Dover, Delaware Attorney General’s office won an indictment against former police officer Thomas Webster over what could be considered one of the most egregious cases of police brutality.

The incident took place in August of 2013. Dover police was responding to a call about a fight between unknown individuals. When the officers arrived to the scene they found Latif Dickerson and moved to make an arrest.

Dickerson was ordered to get on the ground and as he was lowering himself to the ground in a push up position, Officer Webster can be seen kicking Dickerson in the face.

Dickerson goes limp. His jaw was broken and he was unconscious.

Surprisingly, in 2014 Webster was not indicted by a grand jury the first time. The Delaware Attorney General’s office had to convene a second grand jury in order to gain an indictment. I take my hat off to this Attorney General’s office, they could have done the cowardly thing like they did in New York and not seek justice any further.

In a stranger twist, the NAACP has criticized the police department for making the video public. They said they wanted to redirect any tension or hostility before the public saw the video.

This reminded me of the brutal scene from the movie “American History X.” Here is the video, I must warn you it is extremely difficult to watch.
