A former candidate for Congress from Tennessee faces up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to plotting the violent destruction of a Muslim village in Hancock, New York and the massacre of residents living there.
Robert Doggart,?plead guilty to?one count of interstate communication of threats and was released on bond by a federal judge. He awaits sentencing later this year.
Doggart, an ordained minister in the extremist Christian National Church, was arrested in April after attempting to recruit “expert gunners” on a social media site. He also detailed his plans for attacking the New York village with a South Carolina militia member, remarking:
?If there’s a gun fight, well there’s a gun fight, and I want to come home because I love my family and I want to see my kids again. But I also understand that if it’s necessary to die, then that’s a good way to die.?
In another conversation, this one with a woman sympathetic to his plans, Doggart said:
?When we meet in this state, the people we seek will know who we are. We will be cruel to them, and we will burn down their buildings. If anyone attempts to harm us in any way, our stand gunner will take them down from 350 yards away.?The standoff gunner would be me.”
According to court documents, Doggart met with an informant for the government and laid out his plans to firebomb the Muslim community in Hancock. The village was founded by African-Americans who converted to Islam from Christianity.
Keep in mind this is the same Robert Doggart who spoke at a rally for a group named Operation American Freedom. At that extremist gathering, members of the crowd called for the lynching of President Obama for being a “Kenyan traitor.”
Muslims of America spokesman?Muhammad Matthew Gardner minced no words when asked about Doggart, calling him a terrorist and adding:
?This man plotted to mercilessly kill us, kill our children, and blow up our mosque and our school. All would agree, if a Muslim did this, the perpetrator would be immediately identified as a terrorist then prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.?
