In Hopkinsville, Kentucky a student was killed after a piece of football equipment fell and landed on his head. The incident happened at around 4pm at the soccer field.

Quarles was rushed to the hospital where he was then pronounced dead. He was apparently killed by blunt force trauma when assisting in moving a heavy metal equipment.

According to a study, 8 high-school football related deaths were reported during 2014. In 2012 calls against vigorous exercise in hot conditions were made. And between 1995 and 2012 52 players died of heat stroke, and 41 of those deaths were high schoolers.

A quote from the report said,

“These are amazing numbers and every effort should be made to continuously educate coaches concerning the proper procedures and precautions when practicing or playing in the heat.”

While not much is known about the situation or the exact nature of his death. This opens up doors for those who want to created new procedures to avoid a situation like this again.

It hard to describe the loss but my thoughts go out to his family.
