Former Lake Arthur Police Detective Raymond Mott is suing his former employer after being fired. Mott says he doesn’t understand why his department fired him after being photographed at a Ku Klux Klan rally. Mott was looking dapper in the latest Klan fashion, sporting a KKK insignia, while flashing a known KKK salute with his white robbed buddy next to him.

The KKK rally took place last year in North Carolina, his image surfaced on Facebook last week.  He told KATC in Layfayette, La. that he never denied attending the KKK Rally or that it was him in the controversial photo. Mott told KATC that the photo spoke for itself, and that he was attending  a “anti-immigration rally.” Mott maintained that he is not a racist.

Mott originally told Lake Arthur officials that he was working undercover for the FBI when the photo was taken. Of course this turned out to be a lie, and Mott later came clean to his superiors.

The police detective was asked to resign, but Mott refused. Mott stated that he never so much as had a negative write-up since beginning his job as a police officer 2006.

Lake Arthur Police Chief Ray Marcantel decided to take the issue before the town council, which unanimously decided to terminate Mott’s employment with the department.
