A woman was found hanging by her shirt sleeves on a fence in Chillicothe, Ohio, earlier this week. Residents in the area where the body was discovered did not call police at first because they assumed it was a Halloween prank or decoration.

The body of 31-year-old Rebecca Cade was found by a man walking his dog around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Cade had been beaten to death, according to police.

Donnie Cochenour has allegedly admitted that he got into an altercation with Cade, though the cause of the conflict is unclear and police have not indicated whether or not he has confessed to the killing. Cochenour and Cade were “some type of acquaintances,” police said Wednesday.

Cochenour has been charged with murder and is currently being held on a $2 million bond.

Cade’s death, however, does not appear to be related to the disappearances of six women from the Chillicothe area over the past year and a half, authorities say. Four of those women were found dead. Two are still missing.

Even though police say they have not found a definitive link between Cade and the other women, many in the area are extremely disturbed by the violent deaths of women in their community. Chrissy Young, a Chillicothe resident, remarked:

“I don’t know how many more women from these streets have to die.”

It will indeed be a very dark Halloween for this Ohio town.
