The man who gave us the iconic voice of Charlie Brown in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” was sentenced to spend four years and eight months in prison. The court’s decision was the result of Robbins making a series of criminal threats directed at various people from his community.
Peter Robbins, 59, is no stranger to the legal system. In 2013, Robbins was arrested for stalking his ex-girlfriend and harassing her plastic surgeon. Apparently, he believed the breast enlargement procedure performed by the surgeon was responsible for the breakup.
The latest drama involves Robbins sending threatening letters to the manager of the mobile home community where he was living.
Renee Brophy, the wife of the victim, called Robbins a “broken” person and claimed he sent “rude, crude and graphic messages and drawings” to her spouse.
According to the Daily Mail, Brophy also had this to say:
“Let’s be clear, Peter Robbins has created more than just a little chaos … He created a nightmare for me, my husband and my family. I want to sleep again. I want to feel safe in my community and I want my residents to feel safe.”
But this isn’t all he was doing. The former child actor also allegedly said he wanted to solicit the murder of San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore.
In November of this year, Robbins confessed that he was sick:
“This is what happens when you are bipolar. You behave as if you are on drugs. I want justice to be served, but I’m mentally ill…. To stick me three years into a state prison is not benefiting the justice system. I feel I’m entitled to at least a second chance.”
Robbins provided his voice for various “Peanuts” specials from 1965-1971. December marks the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
