My father was obsessed with our family genealogy. He could find distant relation to just about anyone you can imagine, especially if the person in question was well-known or famous.
But Fox News host Bill O’Reilly may well regret discovering who he happens to be related to.
“Finding Your Roots,” the PBS show hosted by famed Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, has determined that O’Reilly is a distant cousin to…liberal talk show host and comedian Bill Maher.
On his show Monday evening, O’Reilly commented:
“You can pick your friends, you cannot select your relatives. Does the name Bill Maher mean anything?”
Maher, the host of the HBO show “Real Time,” remarked:
“It just shows you what a great place America is. Because we’re about as opposite as you can possibly get.”
The O’Reilly-Maher episode of “Finding Your Roots” will air on January 12.
