For the past few days, a manhunt has been underway for 18-year-old “affluenza” sufferer Ethan Couch. Couch is currently being pursued by the FBI and by U.S. Marshals for having skipped a meeting with his probation officer last week. In hopes of finding him, U.S. Marshals have placed a $5,000 reward for information regarding Couch’s whereabouts.
“The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force is currently searching for fugitive Ethan Couch, 18, wanted for probation violation out of Tarrant County. Couch’s case made national news in 2013 when he was sentenced to 10 years probation for the vehicular manslaughter of four people. On December 11th, a warrant was issued for Couch’s arrest.
U.S. Marshals are working in conjunction with state, local, and federal agencies in the apprehension of Couch. A reward of up to five thousand dollars is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of Couch.”
Currently, Ethan Couch’s whereabouts are mere speculation. Some think he may have jumped state lines, while others think he may have fled the country. Whichever it may be, chances are good Ethan Couch is with his mother. Tonya Couch has also been out of contact with, and is also wanted by, authorities. At this point, Tonya Couch is not facing charges.
You know, this little bastard got off easy for a heinous crime. All he had to do was spend ten years doing what his probation officer told him, keeping his nose clean, and being anonymous. All of this would have gone away if he had just done what he was supposed to do. Hell, since the incident took place when he was 16, it’s likely his record would have been sealed. But no, this little prick doesn’t think a slap on the wrist for a handful of lives is fair, I guess. God forbid anyone were to put a damper on his impulsive lifestyle.
Considering that there are actual horrors in the American criminal justice system, Ethan Couch’s blatant disregard for his situation is all the more disgusting. He gets a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card, but that just doesn’t seem to be good enough for him.
The U.S. Marshals wishes anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of Ethan or Tanya Couch to call 800-336-0102.
