This past weekend, the liberal blogosphere was the victim of what can only be described as a deliberate attack. Some bottom-feeder got the bright idea to upload disgusting and pornographic images of children on Daily Kos.
According to a post from founder Markos Moulitsas, the sick individual responsible for this uploaded “several” images of child porn sometime over the weekend. Markos and his team “removed them the second we saw them,” and reported it to the FBI first thing Monday morning. Markos doesn’t know whether the bottom-feeder was “an actual pedophile” or just someone out to wreck Daily Kos’ reputation. Whatever the case, he has pledged that no effort will be spared to track down the scumbag and bring him to justice.
Full disclosure–many of you know that I am a Kossack. I’ve blogged there since 2004 as “Christian Dem in NC“–during the dark days when the GOP had complete control of the federal government for the first time in seven decades. With that being said, I believe it was both. That is, an act of sabotage from a sick and twisted individual.
Sadly, there are a number of places where someone with too much time on his hands can upload images of children being degraded. But of all the places to do so, this bottom-feeder chose to use arguably the largest and most influential blog on either side of politics in this country. To my mind, this person knew exactly what he was doing. This can only be described as an attempt to smear the reputation of the entire liberal blogosphere.
The thing that bewilders me is that this act of sabotage has received scant coverage in the mainstream media. After all, if more people knew about this depraved act, wouldn’t you think that someone would have the courage to do the right thing and turn the perpetrator in? The sooner this person is tracked down, the sooner that the children victimized by this outrageous act can get justice.
When–not if–this slimeball is tracked down, he will have a very hefty bill to pay for his perfidies. The bottom-feeder faces up to 20 years in prison, and would almost certainly have to register as a sex offender. Plus, Kos Media would be more than justified in sending the perp the bills for cleaning this garbage off Daily Kos, as well as ferreting out his or her identity. Sorry, but certain people deserve to be driven into poverty.
Hopefully the investigation will also track down who produced this sleaze, and also identify the children used to produce it so they can get the help and healing they need.
