Michigan Water Crisis ‘Could Potentially Get More Black Votes’ Says Fox News

Perhaps calling what is going on in Flint, Michigan a water crisis is a huge understatement. It’s a tragedy within a disaster, especially for the young children that have all been subjected to the lead-filled water. A tragedy that not many Republicans seem to be making a priority. If you’re Fox News though, maybe you should have just kept your mouths shut on this one.

The story of the water contamination is finally worldwide news. Also, with help from the likes of documentary filmmaker Michael Moore and Cher, the parents and the children of Flint finally have a voice. But while most Americans are more concerned for the kidney problems, anemia, hair loss, and other life altering effects of lead poisoning from the water, Fox News was discussing something else – black votes.

Fox News host, Heather Nauert, recently gave her opinion of the disaster in a quick segment with her colleague, Gregg Jarrett.

During the segment, Nauert made the statement:

“Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders weighed in, in the Democratic debate, coming down on Republicans about this.”

Jarrett then responded by saying:

“Because it raises issue of class and race. 60-percent of the residents of Flint, Michigan are black, 41-percent live below the poverty line. They’re going to the White House because they want a federal emergency disaster declaration to get federal funds, but they’re likely not gonna get it.”

Immediately after Jarrett’s statement, Nauert made a remark that made even me cringe, and I don’t cringe easy. Nauert said:

“Well this is a way they could potentially get more black votes in the coming election.”

Really? Does she even know that she’s on television and people are watching, unfortunately? Even for Fox News I did not think their lack of integrity could get that low.
