A white man has been arrested and charged with shooting out the front glass doors of campaign headquarters for a black woman running for sheriff in Jefferson County, Texas. No one was harmed in the attack.

Jefferson County Sheriff candidate Zena Stephens told police that she was standing outside the headquarters for her campaign in Beaumont when a white man in a Jeep drove up, shouted, “F*ck all n*****s,” and opened fire at her and some others who were also standing outside the building.

Ms. Stephens, who currently serves as the chief of police at Prairie View A&M University, commented on the incident:

“Anytime something like that happens with innocent people around you’re concerned for them, I don’t know if it was a random act or whether it was targeted, but I just think it is, you know, ignorance.”

According to police, they didn’t find a bullet, which may indicate the attack was carried out with a pellet gun.

Authorities also noted that the man suspected of the shooting was taken into custody on an unrelated charge, but also reported that two firearms were found inside of his Jeep. Police said they believe the man may be the shooter who fired at and shattered the window of a local store earlier in the evening.
