Hillary Vs Bernie – The Democratic Nominee Will Have A Serious Problem: Us

Super Tuesday was March 1, just two days ago. Since then, Bernie Sanders has said that he will continue on with his campaign for president. Now this will happen despite Hillary Clinton having clinched seven states on Super Tuesday — Sanders himself clinched four states. Also, with a candidate needing 2383 delegates to receive the Democratic nomination, Clinton is holding strong with 1052, while Sanders seems to be in dire straits with 427.

Does this mean that Sanders is totally out of the running? No. Does this mean that Hillary is a lock for the Democratic nomination? No. Is Hillary on a better path to getting the nomination? Yes. Either way, one of these candidates will be fighting for the presidency. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party has a bigger and more destructive enemy than the Republican Party – itself.

While the Republican Party is in turmoil and seems to be self-destructing over the rise of Donald Trump, the Democratic Party has run a fairly civil race. The enemy to this civility though lies within the supporters of each of the Democratic candidates. While the candidates seem to be playing nice, their supporters are acting like children that will “take their ball and go home” if their candidate is not chosen.

Let’s be clear on this, if you do not vote for the Democratic nominee just because they were not your personal choice, you are not only being petty, you are basically handing the Republicans an unopposed vote. The bickering and pathetic rhetoric being thrown about by Clinton and Sanders’ supporters is getting out of hand, and this useless bickering could very well cost us the White House if it continues along this path.

As John Prager writes in Winning Democrats:

“Often, we hear “I’m not voting if Clinton/Sanders doesn’t win the nomination,” or “Well, I’ll just write Clinton/Sanders’ name in if they don’t win, “ or the worst — “I’ll just vote for Trump” – with the speaker failing to realize that all three of the aforementioned scenarios are exactly the same thing.”

It even seems that even our own Tiffany Willis, owner of Liberal America, has had to deal with these type of “supporters” lately. Here is just one example of a recent exchange:

Whether it’s policy or trust issues, each side could make a case, but at the end of the day we are all Democrats. With that being said, we all need to stick together and vote in unprecedented numbers this November for the Democratic presidential nominee. Unless you just want to hand Trump the keys to the White House unopposed.
