Christian School Board Member Loses His Sh*t Over ‘Winter Break’

Right-wing Christian extremism has risen to terrible heights lately. So, what are they mad about now? A school calendar!

In Omaha, Nebraska, a county school board member said that atheists should “go back in their hellhole” because the calendar had been changed to read winter break instead of Christmas break.

Here’s the problem: atheists don’t believe in hell, so trying to send us there won’t really work.

The school board member, Paul Meyer, is a typical extremist. He is one of those fundamentalists ignoring the Constitution to shove his religious views into the government:

“I would like to make a motion that we rename this period Christmas break, and those atheists who don’t like it can crawl back into their hellhole, because I, for one, will not put my Lord, my God, aside for a few atheists. And if they don’t like it, the ACLU doesn’t like it, the heck with them…

“The responsibility of this board is to set a good example for the kids of this state. But what you show these kids is that the First Amendment is null and void, and does not apply to anyone if the speech Nazis disagree.

The calendar got passed with the break being nameless.

So, I guess Christians are the only ones that deserve a voice now? This man should be kicked off the school board. He does not need to be the “example” for any children. Calling anyone a “speech Nazi” is way worse than a calendar entry.

This is not the first time bigots in Nebraska have made the news. Last year, a member of the State Board of Education, Pat McPherson wrote a remark on his Objective Conservative blog calling President Obama a “half-breed.”

He was asked to resign and urged to take a college course on multiculturalism. It looks like Mr. Meyer should probably join him.
