University Investigating After Black Woman Confronts White Student Over Dreadlocks

San Francisco State University (SFSU) has begun an internal investigation after a video was posted online showing a white student with dreadlocks being confronted by a young black woman who accused him of “cultural appropriation.”

The video, which was uploaded on Monday, has been viewed over 160,00 times on YouTube. Watch it for yourself:

In the video, the white student asks the woman who is complaining about his hair:

“You’re saying I can’t have a hairstyle because it’s your culture? Why?”

The woman replies:

“Because it’s my culture.”

As the video progresses, the woman becomes more physically aggressive, until the young man finally says:

“Yo girl, stop touching me right now…I don’t need your disrespect.”

Things got so heated that university police were called to the scene of the incident. Later, in a statement, the university said:

“San Francisco State University promotes the rights of the campus community to engage in free speech, but does not condone behavior that impedes the safety or well-being of others.”
