FLASHBACK: Biden/Palin Debate Reminds Us How Dumb Sarah Palin Actually Is

Just in case you have been suffering from some form of memory loss, let’s have a quick flashback to 2008.

Just in case the years have buffered your negative impressions of the GOP’s last pick for Vice President, let’s set the wayback machine and take a look at the CNN Vice Presidential debate of October 3, 2008. In that debate then Senator Joe Biden could barely contain his glee as the Governor of Alaska rambled and stumbled her way through a long series of non-answers to policy questions.

If You Only News featured a wonderful video remix of the debate, highlighting Palin’s desperate attempt to prove herself suitable for the highest office in the land. After months of mistakes and stumbles, the Governor had become a target of endless jokes from her detractors. This debate was designed to showcase her preparedness and her knowledge of the issues.

So how did that plan work out for the GOP candidate?

Here is a small sample of one of her answers. To set the stage, the question asked by moderator Gwen Ifill was,

“Let’s talk about climate change. Governor, what is true and what is false?”

Palin’s halting response to that simple query was this:

“I’m not one to attribute every man…every activity of man to the changes in the climate…. I don’t wanna argue about the causes. What I wanna argue about is how are we gonna get there to positively affect the impacts.”

Positively affect the impacts?

Luckily, Senator Biden had something to say to point out the stupidity of Palin’s answer. He said:

“If you don’t know what the cause is, it’s virtually impossible to come up with a solution.”

The debate was a hoot, at least for those who were not trying to pass Palin off as a serious candidate. Apparently, the strategy her team came up with was to keep her focused on a few of her best buzzwords and to totally avoid any facts. So the debate audience heard plenty of references to “Joe Six Pack” and “hockey moms” and “mavericks.” There were winks, and “you betchas” sprinkled throughout. By the end, Joe Biden was grinning like a man who’d been given the best gift of his life.

Because he had.

There. That’s our flashback look at Sarah Palin’s most practiced and rehearsed performance.

Now do you remember just how dumb this woman is?
