Idiot-Of-The-Day In Custody After Shooting Up His Own House With An AK-47

An Ohio man is in custody after he reportedly shot up his own home. In a scene straight out of an action movie, William Chesser made a harrowing escape from his residence in Warren, Ohio. Firing shots into the hallway as he fled what he believed to be the sounds of burglars, he ultimately escaped through a second-story bedroom window. The only problem was that there was no one there, and no reason to blast his house full of bullets.

Chesser later reported to police that he’d become paranoid after he’d heard knocking on his windows, cars driving up and down the road, and noises from inside his home. After climbing out the window, Chesser ran to a neighbor’s house and called 9-1-1 to report a possible burglary in progress.

Police found the front door kicked in and one of the home’s windows broken. As they continued to search, officers also noticed fresh bullet holes in the drywall, smoke, and the lingering smell of gunpowder. They were able to locate an AK-47 along with emptied rifle shell casings as well as a .38 special revolver. When questioned about the guns, Chesser admitted that although he had not actually seen anyone in his home, he had used both guns to fire shots throughout the house.

Since blindly firing guns is typically frowned upon, Chesser was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits. Considering his police record, which includes instances of burglary, theft, and assault, it’s hard to feel too bad for the guy.

During their search, officers also located marijuana and drug contraband in the home, which they are investigating. After running his information through dispatch, it was discovered that Chesser had an outstanding warrant for $1,103 in traffic violations. He was taken to Trumbull County Jail, so at least one dangerous man with a gun ended up in custody after this whole mess.
