George Takei Makes Shocking Video Endorsement Of Hillary Clinton

George Takei was feeling the Bern for quite some time. On the inside, he probably is still feeling the Bern. But he may have just taken a healthy dose of sobering reality as he shockingly endorsed Hillary Clinton in a video posted to his Facebook page.

In a sobering statement, Takei acknowledged the likelihood of Bernie’s defeat in this primary process. He said:

“But having been through many bruising primaries in my life, I’m also a realist. From where I sit, the math is clear. Hillary likely will win, and she will be our nominee.”

Takei said that this election has “historic importance” and that it is crucial that we win in November. At that point, he said:

“What is at stake is nothing less than the very soul of our nation. So, I’m asking Democrats out there to take a pledge along with me. Vote blue no matter who.”

Takei cited a quote from Bernie Sanders saying that Clinton would be an infinitely better president on her worst day than the Republican candidate on his best day. Take is surely right about that.

His message is a powerful one. Upset and disappointed though they may be, Bernie supporters have to acknowledge that Clinton would be an infinitely better president than Trump. Trump would set back what we liberals have fought for for decades. While Hillary may be “steady as we go” on economic and banking reform, she will very likely fight to advance human rights, immigration law, and Obamacare.

Remember, as liberals, our goal should be first and foremost to maintain what we’ve fought for and keep the Republicans at bay. If Bernie supporters can’t have everything this time around, at least vote to keep Trump out of office and keep the movement alive. Follow George Takei  in November and #VoteBlueNoMatterWho. Then, next time, take the White House from the establishment with a movement that’s only grown more powerful.
