This poor girl in Pennsylvania got kicked out of her own prom for her wardrobe choice. Was she wearing something revealing? Was she wearing something with a short skirt? Nope!
This girl, Aniya Wolf, got kicked out of her prom at a Catholic high school for wearing a tuxedo. She got a last minute email from the school right before the prom saying “girls should wear formal dresses.” But, her mother, Carolyn Wolf, had already bought the suit. So, she called the school:
“I told them that I had read the dress code that was given to the students and I didn’t think that it precluded her from wearing a suit. I said that this was very unfair, particularly at the last minute. We had gone out and bought a new suit. I think my daughter is beautiful in a suit.”
She had the suit and her date, so she decided to go to the prom anyway. When Wolf arrived, the principal grabbed her by the arm and threatened to call the cops if she didn’t leave. Seriously? The cops? Cops don’t deal with offended religious people.
Wolf is a lesbian, and she has never liked wearing girly clothes. The school is obviously against her, but some of her friends took to Twitter to defend their classmate:
Mcd has completely contradicted what they teach us. Aniya was dressed modestly and wasnt disrespectful in any way. #suitsforaniya

Catholic schools are not the only ones that discriminate against LGBTQ students. My Alabama high school didn’t allow gay couples to buy couples’ tickets. They could still get individual tickets and go together. It was such a weird, arbitrary rule. We did have a girl wear a suit, which was cool.
Wolf posted this picture of her and her date with the perfect caption, “You can’t take my pride:”
