Here Are The Democratic Senators Who Say They’d Love To Compromise With A President Trump

On the outside chance that Donald Trump does happen to win the election in November and become President, he will find at least three Democrats in the Senate who say they are open to doing business with the Donald.

Jon Tester of Montana, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota have all indicated that while they are not endorsing Trump, they would be willing to reach out and compromise with him on a whole host of issues. Heitkamp informed Politico:

“The people will have a chance to vote. If Donald Trump is elected president there will be a great opportunity to sit down and have a conversation about what that agenda looks like. If he’s president, we’re going to have disagreement. But we’d better all figure out how to come up with an agenda for the American people.”

Would that be all Americans, Senator, or just the non-Hispanic and non-Muslim Americans?

For his part, John Tester remarked:

“This place doesn’t work very well unless you’re able to work with folks. So I would hope so. I mean he’s got some pretty goofy opinions, but hopefully we’ve got some stuff we can work on.”

Sure, you can figure out how to fund the wall on the Mexican border and when would be the best time to use nuclear weapons in both Europe and the Middle East. Oh, and don’t forget a law to punish any woman who even contemplates having an abortion.

But the most loathsome of statements came from Joe Manchin, who has been pretending to be a Democrat his entire life. Manchin said:

“What you see in the campaign and if he would be elected at that level, what you’re going to see is a little different. He didn’t get to where he got to by making a lot of bad deals.”

I’d like to remind these three Senators of an old expression I heard my maternal grandmother use on numerous occasions: You lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.
