WATCH: Detroit Police Detective Demoted After Calling Black Activists ‘Terrorists’ (VIDEO)

A white police detective in Detroit has been demoted for calling the “Black Lives Matter” activists “terrorists” and “racists.”

Nate Weekley was disciplined after posting this on Facebook:

“For the first time in my nearly 17 years as a law enforcement officer I contemplated calling into work in response to the outrageous act perpetrated against my brothers. It seems like the only response that will demonstrate our importance to society as a whole. The only racists here are the piece of (expletive) Black Lives Matter terrorists and their supporters.”

Kenneth Reed, spokesman Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, said:

“If that’s how he feels (about Black Lives Matter), I suspect that’s how he feels about everyday citizens in the community he serves,” Reed continued. “If he encounters someone in a city that’s 80 percent black who is questioning why they’re being accosted, who knows what might happen?”

He was demoted from detective to officer, and he is being investigated by their Internal Affairs.

Weekley’s brother, Joseph Weekley, accidentally killed a 7-year-old. The charge of involuntary manslaughter was dismissed.

Police chief James Craig said:

“It’s not about white or black. When you put on this uniform, you can’t make statements that contradict what we stand for as a department.”

An interesting even occurred in Dallas. The police department invited the “Black Lives Matter” protesters to fill out an application. Police officers were killed in Dallas last week. The Dallas Police Chief, David Brown, said:

“We’re hiring. Get off that protest line and put an application in. We’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we will help you resolve some of the problems you are protesting about.”

In an article published yesterday at Liberal America, one of our own writers, Claire Satter, perhaps summarized Brown’s statements best when she said:

“Typically, telling a protester to “get a job” is used in a dismissive and condescending tone. In this case, I believe Brown was not implying protesters were without employment of worthwhile endeavors. Instead, perhaps Brown was saying, join us. We need you.”
