Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is sick with pneumonia. Oh, the horror – she’s a human being!
Staffers Were Sick Before Clinton
It’s certainly bad timing – Clinton getting sick right after the right-wing echo chamber trolled her health – but yes, she is ill at the moment.
The Hill reported this morning that a bug has been going around among her staffers.
“At least half a dozen senior staff members in Clinton’s Brooklyn headquarters battled the illness before the Democratic presidential nominee was diagnosed with the illness on Sunday, People reported Monday.”
The report went on to say,
“‘Everyone’s been sick,’ a campaign source told the publication.
The source said pneumonia cases began popping up among Clinton’s staff in late August, two weeks before the former first lady’s diagnosis. Among those affected were campaign aides who travel closely with Clinton.”
Given her schedule, plus the report that close staffers were ill, it’s really not all that shocking that she got sick.
Doctor Says Our Future President Is “Recovering Nicely’
Clinton’s doctor released a statement on Sunday afternoon stating that she was doing well. CNN’s Dan Merica tweeted the statement:

Of course, all of the conspiracy theories swirling around the nominee’s health make me wonder – would this be happening if she were a man?
People expect women to be weak. Hillary Clinton is anything but weak, which is part of why conservatives can’t stand her. Thus, the second she shows some humanity – e.g., getting sick – they jump on it like the rabid dogs that they are.
The schedule required to campaign for president is brutal. And these people are human (and not young humans, either one of them). It’s only natural for them to feel a little under the weather sometimes. Especially if a bunch of their staffers are sick, as well.
Get well soon, Mrs. Clinton. We look forward to calling you Madame President.
