The tiny town of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is a popular yachting and tourist destination attracting thousands of vacationers. But the town manager says one man’s homemade sign is turning tourists away.

Linc Sample, a licensed firearms dealer, ‘patronizes’ the “Black Lives Matter” slogan by proudly displaying a big slab of wood reading “Black Rifles Matter” with a painted rifle accompanying his disgusting ‘ingenious’ words.

Sample says the sign is referencing gun rights, not race.

“They’re being targeted because of their appearance, fair enough. So is my rifle. If anything, they should be flattered I used the phrase.”

I’ll give credit where credit is due; the sign is enticing and obviously draws attention, but he doesn’t actually believe that, does he?

I cringe because I cannot fathom a person being ignorant enough to compare weapons to a human life. But I seem to be amazed by people in this world everyday.

However, Sample isn’t alone. There are others just as mindless.

Gun rights activist, Maj Toure, started a group called, “Black Guns Matter” to defend gun owner’s Second Amendment rights.

The Second Amendment says this:

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Emphasis on “well regulated.” Sadly, guns are not well regulated and have been abused by many people.

Thomas Woodin, the Boothbay Harbor town manager, says the ghastly sign has scared off some of the town’s visitors. But officials admit there isn’t anything they can do about removing the sign because it is staked on private property.

The pro-gun activist says his ‘masterpiece’ won’t be up for much longer because he plans to replace it from time to time with other memorable slogans playing off different messages.
