Influenced by this year’s battle of the sexes election, a pharmacy in New York City’s Soho is charging men a 7 percent “man tax” to combat gender inequality.

Thompson Chemists owner Jolie Alony posted the store’s new taxing system in the store’s front windows. Fittingly, a pink sign reads:

“New store policy: All Female Customers Shop Tax Free.”

Accompanying the pink sign, a manlike blue sign in the neighboring window, reads:

“All Male Customers Are Subject to a 7% Man Tax.”

In an interview with the Daily Dot, Alony explained the need for the new policy.

“We wanted to share that women deserve to get a break, and men deserve to be charged 7 percent more. Women are spending more in general and we make less, so we deserve to have a break.”

Hillary Clinton is to blame, or thank, for the store’s new policy.

“We thought it’d be a great idea with all the political things going on—with Clinton being such a woman and the other guy and his womanizing.”

Woman tend to pay a “pink tax” on necessities such as dry cleaning and personal care products. The Guardian made a pretty perfect case for free feminine care calling it for what it is: health care. Not a luxury.

Alony wants to cut women some slack. Because “luxuries” can be expensive, the pharmacy is paying the women’s 7% sales tax out of pocket.

“We wanted to share that women deserve to get a break, and men deserve to be charged 7 percent more. Women are spending more in general and we make less, so we deserve to have a break.”

All hail the ultimate feminist!

Unfortunately, not all are as thrilled. Alony said some shoppers find the signs upsetting saying, “Fuck you,” “You’re being a sexist,” and to “get a lawyer.”

If men only knew the things women must endure: wearing high heels, menstrual cycles, and childbirth.

According to Gothamist, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs said there’s no legal issue with the pharmacy’s promotion, as there isn’t a prohibition on price discrimination for goods. It is illegal, however, to discriminate in the pricing of services.
