Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has repeatedly said he’ll build a wall between the United States and Mexico. It’s part of his plan to prevent people from entering our country illegally, and his supporters have been rooting for it all along.

The idea of a wall hasn’t been sitting well with many people, and it’s even been met with makeshift ones against Trump:

With an economy that’s still struggling, Trump vowed to make Mexico cover all expenses of the wall.
Arizona’s population of illegal immigrants was about six percent in 2013, but that number has decreased by 40 percent in the years since. According to Raw Story, a recent Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll revealed the following among Arizona residents:
- About 47 percent feel the wall would be a waste of money.
- About 34 percent think it would be effective.
Nationally, the numbers lean the same way, with 49 percent of people not thinking a wall would do any good. Still, 31 percent hold onto the idea that a physical barrier between the two countries would work.
Trump has also made statements about deporting anyone who is living here illegally, while Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton favors a path to citizenship.
Trump’s take on illegal immigration has helped him earn an official endorsement from the Fraternal Order of Police . Their president, Chuck Canterbury, said in a statement back in September:
“He’s made a real commitment to America’s law enforcement, and we’re proud to make a commitment to him and his campaign by endorsing his candidacy today.”
He has now come out and said that since Mexico is refusing to pay for the wall, the new plan is for the U.S. to cover the costs with the understanding that Mexicans will pay us back.
Building a wall has been a key part of his campaign from the very beginning. He even sent this tweet out back in August of 2015:
For those that don’t think a wall (fence) works, why don’t they suggest taking down the fence around the White House? Foolish people!

With less than two weeks to election day, it appears as though one of his main draws is slowly fading away.
