WATCH: Chris Cuomo Mansplains Sexism To Female Panelists

On CNN’s New Day program this morning, Chris Cuomo was schooled on sexism when he said he “expects more” from women, such as Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Yes, Chris, It’s Sexist

Cuomo, while hosting CNN Contributor Margaret Hoover and USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers on his show, fell into that age-old “but is it sexist if it’s a compliment?” hole.

He asked Powers what she, as a woman, thought men may miss in the discussions of Clinton. Powers pointed out the double standard as the most glaring display of sexism in this race, adding:

“I just want you to imagine a woman [acting like Donald Trump], Chris, I guess, and then her being successful and somehow getting the nomination, and then also maybe potentially being the President of the United States. To me, it’s unthinkable …”

Powers wasn’t finished speaking, but Cuomo couldn’t wait to manterrupt and mansplain, interjecting with:

“I hear what you’re saying … is it equally wrong that I wouldn’t expect that out of a woman because I expect more out of them?”

Did you hear that? That was the sound of women smacking their heads and slamming them against their desks around the country.

Powers says the most obvious display of sexism is the double standard.

Cuomo responds by interrupting to ask if his double standard is sexist.

Margaret Hoover couldn’t contain herself, bursting into laughter and pointing out:

“That’s kind of an example.”

Cuomo flailed around, while Powers called his comments what they were: “paternalistic.”

Powers then said:

“… Women have had to learn how to deal with sexism. So I don’t think it’s fair to expect them to have to constantly be reaching this bar, where Hillary Clinton has to be so good at standing there with this guy who is attacking her and doing things that, if a woman did, we’d call her a psychopath.”

Amen, Ms. Powers.
