The holidays are upon us. Part of the joy of this season, if you have kids or you are a kid, is seeing the Santa at the mall.
A mall Santa in Sanford, Florida was removed because he told a 10-year-old girl that he had Hillary Clinton on his “naughty” list. The mother complained to management.
The family happens to be Hillary Clinton supporters. The Santa told the little girl that she was on his “nice” list. Then, he said:
“Do you know who is on my naughty list? Hillary Clinton.”
Management then complained to the company who contracts Santa actors to malls around the country, Noerr Programs.
They said this on their Facebook page:
“Santa is a universal symbol of peace, joy and goodwill for all. The Santa mentioned in recent reports in Florida is still employed by us, in a different location.”
“Santa was given additional training to ensure that he remains in the character of Santa during all future appearances. Our unwavering mission is to create magic, inspire smiles and capture memories, for the young and young at heart.”
The mall that the Santa was removed from, The Seminole Towne Center, released the following statement on their Facebook page:
“Seminole Towne Center has an established reputation for being a family friendly destination for Central Florida. We take customer feedback seriously and we work with our retailers and partners to improve upon situations that require attention. The Santa referenced in recent reports is still employed by the Santa vendor, in a different location. Santa was given additional training to ensure that he remains in the character of Santa during all future appearances. Santa is a symbol of peace, joy and goodwill for all and we are pleased that we are able to bring this cherished symbol to the communities we serve.”
The Santa in question was sent to a counselling program with the company. There is no reason to get political when talking to children. He has since been moved to another mall. Keep your politics out of Christmas, Santa.
