While President Trump’s preferred diet may be Big Macs and Kentucky Fried Chicken, after the failure of the GOP healthcare bill on Tuesday, it now appears he’ll have to settle for some crow.
As if the loss on healthcare wasn’t bad enough, a tweet from 2013 is also coming back to take a bite out of Trump’s oversized posterior:
Leadership: Whatever happens, you're responsible. If it doesn't happen, you're responsible.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 8, 2013
What makes that tweet so ironic (and simultaneously pathetic) is that just yesterday the president said the healthcare debacle in the Senate wasn’t his fault or the fault of his party, commenting:
“We’re not going to own it. I’m not going to own it. I can tell you the Republicans are not going to own it.”
Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, Cheeto Face, but you’re the head of state and head of the Republican party, so you own it and so do they. That’s how “leadership” works; it’s a double-edged sword.
Harry S. Truman (a real leader and president) used to say “the buck stops here,” and even had a sign to that effect on his desk in the Oval Office. We’ve gone from that to a man whose personal motto could be: If it works, thank me. If it fails, it must be your fault.
Keep in mind that Trump repeatedly said during the 2016 campaign, “I alone can fix this” as it related to the challenges facing the country. He also bragged that people would get tired of “winning” he would win so often on behalf of the American people. The results, however, have yet to arrive.
Others on Twitter made sure the president didn’t forget his 2013 posting:
Guess who's currently responsible for the Affordable Care Act? HINT: He's sitting in your chair.

This tweet didn't age well, did it?

Have we just learned the meaning of irony Donald?

Holy Shit! Might be first time I have ever agreed with a DJT tweet? Help fix Obamacare, and you'll get some credit, Donald.

Losing has replaced winning for Donald Trump. He must be exhausted. Isn’t it about time he went and played some more golf or had some meetings with a bunch of shady Russians?
