As with everything Donald Trump says he has a plan for if elected President, his method for defeating the terrorist group ISIS is just as vague and incomplete as nearly every thought emanates from his empty skull. How would Trump neutralize ISIS? Well, here’s what he’s said:
“I would bomb the shit out of them.”
Of course, we’re already doing that, and our efforts, along with those of the Iraqi military, are starting to pay dividends as the Islamic State is on the run and may soon been driven out of their main strongholds in Raqqa and Fallujah.
But today on CNN, a backer of Trump, New York Assemblyman Bill Nojay, was completely unable to articulate any kind of policy or strategy on the part of the Trump campaign when CNN host Carol Costello asked him:
“Bill, let me ask you something about Mr. Trump’s policy when it comes to defeating ISIS. he says he wants to bomb the out of them. that’s one of his strategies. he doesn’t necessarily want to send large numbers of troops there. what exactly is Mr. Trump’s plan to defeat ISIS?”
Nojay, who’s clearly just as dense as Trump himself, replied:
“Well, I think you start with the notion that when you get to tactical military operations, ask the military men. This president —”
Costello was ready for that line, and shot back at Nojay by remarking:
“But he said he knows more than the generals.”
At that point, Nojay tried to turn his response into a dodge, weave, and blame routine:
“Well, if you listen to what the generals are saying and what the troops on the ground are saying, they oppose Barack Obama’s withdrawal from Iraq. In Libya in 2008 when I was there, you had —”
Once again, Costello tried to keep Nojay on task:
“I’m talking about now and how to defeat ISIS. I just want to know Donald Trump’s plan to defeat ISIS right now.”
The dithering Nojay then decided to give a history lesson:
“ISIS wants to create a caliphate stretching from Tunisia and Libya all across North Africa throughout the Middle East. That’s what we’re really dealing with here.”
We’ve already established that, as Costello reminded Nojay:
“But what are we going to do about it? What is he going to do about it? We get it. What’s the plan?”
To that, Nojay again went on the attack, leaving no doubt that neither he or Donald Trump knows a damn thing about American foreign policy:
“We’re first going to listen to our military commanders on the ground and take their advice unlike Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who didn’t do what their commanders asked them to do, and, in fact, withdrew American troops creating the crisis that we have today.”
