MoveOn.org Organizing Protests – Expects Trump To Fire Mueller

News is spreading that the special council led by Robert Mueller is picking up serious steam in its investigation of possible collusion between President Donald Trump and the Russian government during the 2016 Presidential election. In fact, Mueller’s council issued its first sealed indictment, although who is in trouble, or for what, we do not yet know.

MoveOn.org, a political watchdog group, is already planning for Trump’s backlash against Mueller. They fully expect Mueller to be fired by the President – yet another rash and misguided attempt to destroy the investigation against him. Trump has reportedly thought about taking such an action already during his Presidency. As such, MoveOn.org is scheduling demonstrations in the event that Trump does take that misguided step against Mueller.

MoveOn.org writes:

“Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:

If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ 5 P.M. local time
If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day

This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.

This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let’s mobilize to show that we won’t let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it’s essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.

Trump’s strategy has often been using diversions and overwhelming the public when bad things happen so they can not organize well enough to respond. MoveOn.org has clearly recognized this, and they want people to be prepared if Trump makes another authoritarian move.
