Allen West: Radio Show Caller Who Went Into Ugly Racist Rant Was A Plant

Last Thursday, Sandy Rios, the morning drive-time host on American Family Radio, had Allen West as her guest. One of the callers, “Richard,” declared that Obama has forfeited his right to live with his constant lies, and suggested the Ku Klux Klan ought to lynch him. People for the American Way got a clip.

To her credit, Rios shut him down right away. But in West’s eyes, this was all a plan to make conservatives look bad. West suggested that “Richard” was a plant whose intent was to get a sound bite on the air so the likes of Media Matters could claim that Rios and West were giving aid and comfort to the KKK. Rios seemed to agree, saying that “Richard” had passed himself off as a veteran, but had been “very vague about his service.” West agreed, saying that liberal groups are “very smart” about trying to bait conservatives into saying extremist-sounding things.

Really, Allen? So does that mean Janet Mefferd was a plant when you went on her show and questioned Tammy Duckworth’s patriotism? And are you that dense to see how much hate has been sown into this country–partly because of people like you? But then again, that’s to be expected from a guy who thinks mistreating a detainee is even remotely acceptable.

One has to wonder, though, how it was possible for someone with such hateful views could have even been allowed to get on the air in the first place. And you especially have to wonder how a radio network that holds itself out as Christian could allow this kind of garbage on the air.
