Outrageous Lies Lead To Hilarious #FoxNewsFacts Tweets

Steve Emerson, founder of The Investigative Project on Terrorism and Fox News terrorism expert, made outrageous claims about the city of Birmingham, England on Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeannine last night (video of which is at the end of this article). The response by Twitter users and the countering of?those tweets by Fox News led to some overnight hilarity in my Twitter feed.

Jeannine Pirro, host of Justice with Judge Jeannine, discussed “no-go zones” in Europe on her show as part of her coverage of?the?bombing of Charlie Hebdo by religious extremists last Saturday. Fox News terrorism expert, Steve Emerson, described deplorable conditions for non-Muslims in cities like Birmingham, England.

?In Britain, it’s not just ?no-go zones,? there are actual cities, like Birmingham, that are totally Muslim, where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in. In parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn’t dress according to Muslim?religious Muslim attire.?

Horrified at this ridiculousness news, Pirro gasped,

?This is metastasizing into a simple takeover!?

According to i100.com,?Emerson was repeating a claim he made earlier on Fox News to?Sean Hannity that??’Europe is finished,’ with governments apparently having no sovereignty over Muslim areas in their own country.”

You’ve already guessed the problem with this report: not a word of it is true.

CNN clarifies that, “About 5% of the population of England are Muslim. In Birmingham, the proportion of Muslims is about 20%, according to 2011 census data. About 50% of the city’s inhabitants identify themselves as Christian.”

Emerson later apologized and admitted his claims were false. This didn’t stop the outpouring of ridicule on Twitter under the trending hashtag #foxnewsfacts.

Many of the tweets focused on the prevalence of hijabs in Birmingham:

animals hijab

jam jars

muslim woman car

Others noted the changes in England since the hostile Muslim takeover:

camel racing

However, other tweets noted that the takeover has been evident for some time:

ali

ozzy

In response, Fox News created a new Twitter page to address these tweets:

first tweet

The jeers continued despite their efforts, with Twitter users noting that Fox may be unsure where Birmingham is actually located:

birmingham in middle east

Fox responded to the onslaught yet again, in what may be the most hilarious tweet of them all:

fairness and truth

While Twitter users continue to call Fox News to task, for now, Murdoch and Co. continue to do what they do best.

more shit we made up

no news no facts
