The Republicans gave rookie Joni Ernst the kiss-of-death job tonight. She is giving the Republican response to the president’s State Of The Union address.
But who in the world is Senator Ernst (R-Iowa)??She is a scary rookie whose?viral political ad shot her to fame:
Ernst’s press release says:
“I am truly honored to deliver the Republican address. It’s a long way from Red Oak, Iowa to Washington, D.C. But now that I am here, I am excited to get to work in order to craft and implement real solutions as we chart a new path forward for our great nation.?
But that doesn’t sound much like the Iowan who bragged she castrated hogs on the family hog farm in Iowa. And she implied that she could do that in Washington, too. At the very least she could cut the pork.
This?Ernst woman is no sissy. She served in the Army Reserve for 21 years, and made her way to lieutenant colonel. We hope it didn’t have anything to do with castration.
The senator is the first woman from Iowa to make her way to D.C. And she is the first woman in the Senate with combat duty.
You can find Ernst on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle, toting a pistol, and teaching Sunday School. Of course those feats are not necessarily in that order.
But watch out if Ernst goes rogue in her speech. The Republican leadership hopes she is tied to their script. But if she starts ad libbing, she will start shooting off Sarah Palinesque quotes. It is what we all love about Ernst.
The Iowa tough-girl believes there really were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. There is a United Nations conspiracy to take the land from farmers. And President Obama is a dictator who should be impeached.
Ernst also wants personhood for fetuses. And she carries a gun to protect herself from our government.
Oh Joni, please go off-the-cuff. The bigger the tangent the better. Just don’t castrate anyone.
