I wonder what Al Gore is thinking?

The rumor mill ran full steam on Thursday, echoing the words “Al Gore” might or might not become a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate.

“This is people talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him,” a Gore advisor stated.

Al Gore was Bill Clinton’s vice president. The former vice president ran for president 2000, and lost, in spite of winning the popular vote. Al Gore would be competing against Clinton’s wife, Hillary, if he ran for president.

Hillary Clinton was once considered the only Democrat running for president, but things have changed. Bernie Sanders chose to run and she has become increasingly vulnerable in recent weeks. A recent poll showed Clinton losing to Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, and questions have continued for months about her use of a private email server when she secretary of state. Also deciding whether or not to run, is current Vice President Joe Biden, who is on vacation, but expected to make an announcement when he returns.

Two people close to Al Gore denied a report from Thursday suggesting the former vice president was considering running for president in 2016. An associate of Gore’s stated the speculation was groundless. Later, a spokeswoman for Gore added there was “no truth” to the idea he is considering a White House run.

Supporters of Al Gore had begun talking about a presidential run, though some Gore advisers quickly poured “lukewarm water” on the idea. Since leaving the White House, Al Gore has become one of the the most vocal public figures warning the world about climate change.

The Tennessean, Gore’s hometown newspaper, cites an Al Gore spokesperson and “two sources close to Gore” in claiming the idea of his running for president was false.

“That would be news to me, so I think somebody’s off base,” a Gore friend told The Tennessean.

People close to Al Gore are denying he will enter the race for president. Are we to believe them, or the people who who want to draft him?
