Carly Fiorina Wants To Punish The Young People Of Iran

Is Carly Fiorina a Republican puppet, or just a very angry individual?

Six world powers have signed a deal, after very lengthy negotiations, to curb Iran’s nuclear program and ensure it does not take up nuclear arms. Iran will do this in exchange for sanctions relief. The deal has been one of the Obama administration’s long-term foreign policy goals. It is widely opposed by Republicans who argue that it will cause instability in the Middle East and threaten Israel’s security. Their arguments are not based on facts, but on a long standing and deeply rooted prejudice against President Obama.

If elected president, Carly Fiorina would simply cancel an agreement in which the United States loses “nothing,” and gains an Iran that won’t develop nuclear weapons for twenty years.

Carly Fiorina stated:

“…I would continue to do what I’ve said for some time, which is, on day one in the Oval Office, I would place a phone call to the Supreme Leader. He might not take the phone call, but the message would be, new deal. Unless you’re prepared to open every nuclear facility and every military facility, anytime, anywhere [to] inspections. Not 20 days notice, not all this stuff apparently we agreed to. We’re going to make it as hard as possible for you to move money around the global financial system. We can do that; we don’t need anyone’s permission or collaboration to do that. That’s what I would do.”

Suggesting an isolationist policy, Carly Fiorina expanded on her plans.

“The EU is desperate for an opportunity to participate in a growing Iranian economy. And so, we have to make it very difficult for Iran to move money. And one of the things that’s going to happen immediately here, is when sanctions are lifted, Iran will get a windfall of hundreds of hundreds of millions of dollars, which based on their past behavior, and I don’t see any reason for them to change it, they will use to fund their proxies in the region, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc., who have a strategic intent to destabilize the region. Which is why, both the Saudis, the Israelis, sort of everyone else in the region has been saying, ‘Don’t cut this deal, don’t cut this deal.’”

Her argument breaks down with the realization the Saudis also fund those organizations.

While there is a certain amount of emotional appeal to Carly Fiorina’s argument, in essence, she wants to punish the young people of Iran for their grandparents’ mistakes, or at least their grandparents’ “government’s” mistakes. While this smacks of discrimination and prejudice, it is, sadly, a kind of peripheral result based on the Republican prejudice against President Obama.

Carly Fiorina also wants to block any trade between Europe and Iran by keeping any financial transactions from happening. That kind of behavior is not going to have a positive impact on our European relations. It’s a remarkably arrogant position, based far more on ego than on intelligent or ethical thinking. This, too, is a peripheral result of Republican prejudice against President Obama.
