
On Tuesday, August 18, the White House somewhat quietly opened a Tumblr blog account for President Obama. The main reason for doing so was to showcase some of the letters that have been sent to the President from ordinary Americans. The blog was introduced with this message:
“This new Tumblr will feature letters…that Americans have written to President Obama, some of the letters he reads every night, and some of the ways letters from across the country influence our work here at the White House.”
Here’s an image of the first entry posted to Letters to President Obama. It’s a “thank you” from Natoma Canfield in Medina, Ohio. Canfield is a cancer survivor who was personally touched by Obama’s sensitivity to her struggle and also credits Obamacare with her recovery:
And folks on social media have also been quick to send notes to the President for all he’s done while in office:
It’s gonna be so much fun to see all of the wonderful things that people share with the President over the rest of his Administration. Something tells me his Tumblr account is going to be very busy and always inspiring.
