We Can’t Stand Donald Trump, But We Applaud How He Defended His Wife (VIDEO)

We here at Liberal America have made no secret that we are not exactly fans of Donald Trump. On this one issue, however, I will agree with him… but just this once.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump was asked about an article in the New York Times which stated:

“For a time, her 51,600 Twitter followers were allowed a rare window into her honeyed but seemingly isolated life in the form of regular Twitter posts featuring selfies of her beauty rituals, private jet rides and bikini body… Mrs. Trump then settled into a life that, were it not for her husband’s presidential aspirations, might resemble that of any number of trophy spouses in New York, Palm Beach and Paris, the three cities Mrs. Trump says she loves most.”

Trump defended his wife and pointed out her beauty, both inner and outer, and her heart.

“‘Well, she’s a great woman, she’s got a tremendous heart, a great outer beauty, but a great inner beauty. She’s been on the cover of Vogue, she was a very, very successful model. She did really well before she met me.’

“‘Was that article unfair?’ the interviewer asked.

“‘I don’t know. I don’t know what to think anymore. I get so much press it’s unfair. It’s like bad statements actually turn out to be good.'”

Well, no. The press you get for making racist and sexist statements about Mexican immigrants, women and a myriad of other topics is still outrageous and you deserve the negative press you get for them, Trump, especially considering you imagine you could run this country someday.

Melania Trump, however, does not deserve to be attacked by either liberals or conservatives. Let’s face it, she’ll never be the same target of racism and outright hatred as Michelle Obama, but attacking the spouses of candidates running for office is unfair. Melania, after all, isn’t running for office.

Hopefully, soon Donald won’t be, either.
