You Won’t Believe What This Candidate Threatened If She’s Not Elected

It’s a common practice for politicians to promise voters what they will do if they are elected. In Toledo, Ohio, however, mayoral candidate Opal Covey is not shy about telling voters what will happen if she is not elected. This self-described “prophetess” is probably just mad because she has lost in her previous four attempts at becoming mayor.

In an interview with NBC 24, Covey had this to say:

“I’ve been running four times, this is the fifth, but I really actually won the election in 2013. Now this might be a shock to you, but it’s no shock to a lot of people, because my votes have been stolen ever since I’ve been running.”

So Covey claims her votes have been stolen and that’s why she wasn’t elected. If this is true, then someone is doing Toledo a huge favor. So where does her paranoia come from? The answer to that starts to become obvious as the interview moves along. Asked why she chose to run again in 2015, Covey says:

“God sent me to look upon the city of Toledo, and so therefore I had to go through everything that the citizens went through. Now 38-years later, I know the city up one side and down the other, and I’m here to be mayor of the city of Toledo.”

Covey takes crazy to the next level. The Republican (no surprise!) closes the interview with this last statement:

“Great destruction will come up… up… upon— [unintelligible rant for 13-seconds]—thank you Jesus. That was a confirmation. If people don’t give me what I earned in 2013 back, and I’m not on that seat in November, then you’ll see God coming and visiting the city in the greatest destruction you have ever seen.”

Now, I am in no way saying that biblical delusions are solely a Republican issue. I have met some pretty crazy Democrats. It just seems that recently, most of the Christian extremism is coming from the right. Also, one of the scariest things of all is that people actually have voted for her in the past. If she somehow gets elected, the sane people of Toledo may want to relocate as quickly as possible.
