A same-sex couple in Australia have been forced to remove their child from her school after it was made clear that children with homosexual parents are not welcome there.
The 7-year-old girl was threatened with expulsion for mentioning the fact she had two fathers during a class. According to sources, she was quickly interrupted by her teacher and then told that she would only be allowed to continue her education at the school on the condition that she did not discuss her home life.
After the incident at Western Australia’s Foundation Christian College the girl’s fathers attended a meeting where they were told that their daughter was not allowed to mention anything concerning homosexuality. They were told
that if she did, the 7-year-old would be excluded for promoting “gay.”
During this meeting, Principle Andrew Newhouse accused the girl’s biological father of tricking him into believing he was straight. Newhouse did not know the father was gay during the interview process as he was married to the girl’s mother at the time. Newhouse stated:
“If we knew you were gay at the interview you would have never got in this school.”
Newhouse has since confirmed that gay parents are not welcome at Western Australia’s Foundation Christian College as the school does not “promote gay.” In a letter written to the girls’ parents Newhouse also noted that their same sex lifestyle is not “congruent” with the school’s “Christian world view.” He wrote that discussing homosexuality in class meant that:
“Christian values being taught in the classroom were being undermined.”
In an attempt to try and avoid any further discrimination against their family the male couple made the decision to remove their daughter from Western Australia’s Foundation Christian College and enroll her elsewhere. The fathers claim they wish to avoid further harassment from the school and do not want to place their already confused and upset young daughter in an even more difficult situation.
