Mormon Church Targets Children And Same-Sex Couples With New Rules

It seems the Mormon Church, also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), has a new enemy—same-sex couples and their children. In new policies added to the Mormon’s Handbook 1, same-sex couples and their children are targeted and considered apostates.

According to Fox 13 Salt Lake City:

“…the changes mean that children of same-sex couples cannot become members of the LDS Church unless they are of legal age, are no longer living with their parents, and have disavowed the practice of same-sex relationships.”

So what does this exactly mean? Well, according to the new rules of the Mormon Church, being in a same-sex marriage now constitutes apostasy. As for their children, they would not be permitted to receive a name and a blessing. Also, the children would have to wait until they were of “legal age” to be baptized, confirmed, ordained, and recommended for missionary service.

If that wasn’t enough, the Mormon Church also says that the legal age child would have to commit to living by church teachings as well as disavowing the practice of same-sex relationships and marriages. I think it’s safe to say that the Mormon Church does not like gay people.

It’s also reported that before being baptized, the child must not:

“…live with a parent who has lived or currently lives in a same-gender cohabitation relationship or marriage.”

An LDS Church spokesman did release a statement a few days ago that said:

“Church handbooks are policy and procedural guides for lay leaders who must administer the Church in many varied circumstances throughout the world. The Church has long been on record as opposing same-sex marriages. While it respects the law of the land, and acknowledges the right of others to think and act differently, it does not perform or accept same-sex marriage within its membership.”

Well you have to admire the candid response. Other than that, I hope people hear of this and run away from this cult. While I believe you should be able to worship any God you choose, I also reserve the right to call BS.

Remember, these are the same people that didn’t recognize black people as equals until 1978. Even now that could be up for debate. It’s no surprise that this is the type of crap that Mitt Romney and other Republicans believe in. I’m sure he would have made a fine Mormon President.
