Conservative Actress Tells Fox: Darth Vader Is Black Because ‘Jesus Talks About It’

Did you know that the costume Darth Vader wears is black because it says so in the Bible? No? Don’t feel bad; neither did I.

But according to former Northern Exposure actress Janine Turner–who is now a member of the far right political spectrum–Darth Vader is indeed wearing black because he represents evil, and even Jesus talked about that.

As they say in the movies, some “back story” is required to fully understand what Turner said: On her weekly show, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry speculated that there was a racial component to Darth Vader’s character because he was dressed in black and voiced by a black man (James Earl Jones). But after the character turned away from the Dark Side, Darth Vader was revealed to be a white man.

That’s an interesting theory, and it is, as Harris-Perry noted, just a theory. But according to Turner, the kind of political correctness she thinks was present in what Harris-Perry said “is going to be responsible for killing more Americans.”

Talk about your WTF?! moments. That may be one of the best of 2015.

Turner continued:

“Regarding Darth Vader, please! The Bible talks darkness and light. This is about evil and good. Darkness and light.

“This doesn’t have anything to do with anything else, this goes back to biblical times. It’s been discussed in the Bible, Jesus talks about it. It’s about darkness and light, evil and good.”

Also an interesting theory, but I don’t recall the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, saying that, either.

This was all just merely a segueway for Turner to spout off some of her antigovernment rhetoric. She said that even discussing racial issues is:

“Ruining our country and putting us in this clear and present danger.”

States, Turner went on to explain, should band together for protection:

“We’re in clear and present danger, we’re beyond imminent. So the states can legally and constitutionally come together to defend the American people.”

I almost hate to burst the bubbles floating around in Ms. Turner’s head, but we already came together for that purpose almost 240 years ago, back in 1776. That’s why we call it the United States of America.
